How to open a .msg file on iPhone or iPad
When someone sends you an Outlook email as a .msg attachment, iPhone Mail can't show it. Here's how to read it in Safari in about a minute.

Step 1: Save the file to Files
- In Mail, touch and hold the .msg attachment until the share options appear.
- Choose Save to Files, pick a folder such as Downloads, and tap Save.
Step 2: Open it in Safari
- Open openemailfile.com in Safari.
- Tap Choose an email file and pick the .msg from Files.
- Read the email in full with its attachments: free for one email up to 2 MB.
The email is opened in Safari, on your iPhone, so we never see it. Nothing needs installing.
Keep it as a PDF
A PDF opens in any app, and you can share it on WhatsApp or attach it to a form. Tap Download PDF and save it to Files.
If the email is on your computer
Convert it on the computer and choose Send to phone: scan the QR code with your iPhone camera and the PDF opens on your phone. The file is encrypted before it leaves your computer, so only your phone can open it.
Got winmail.dat instead of a .msg? The winmail.dat opener gets the real files out, on iPhone too.
